Alzil-M 5 Tablet

Alzil-M 5 Tablet is a prescription medicine used to treat Alzheimer's disease. It helps to slow down the progression of moderate to severe Alzheimer's by improving memory and thinking. It also increases the levels of a chemical messenger involved in the transmission of nerve signals. Alzil-M 5 Tablet can be taken with or without food, but you may take it with food to avoid a stomach upset. However, it is advised to take it at the same time each day to maintain a consistent level of medicine in the blood. Do not skip any doses, but if you miss a dose of this medicine, take it as soon as you remember. Finish the full course of treatment even if you feel better and do not stop taking it suddenly. Some common side effects of this medicine include nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite, fatigue, and headache. It may also cause dizziness and sleepiness. So, do not drive or do anything that requires mental focus until you know how this medicine affects you. Drink plenty of fluids to keep yourself hydrated while taking this medicine as this medicine may cause diarrhea. Before using this medicine, you should tell your doctor if you have ever had heart problems, stomach ulcers, epilepsy or asthma. It may also affect, or be affected by, some other drugs you are using so let your doctor know what these are to be safe. Inform your doctor if you are pregnant, planning pregnancy or breastfeeding.

• Alzheimer's disease

Alzil-M 5 Tablet is a combination of two medicines: Donepezil and Memantine which treat Alzheimer’s disease. Donepezil is a cholinesterase inhibitor while Memantine is an NMDA inhibitor. Together, they balance the levels of chemical messengers in the brain and help in the transmission of nerve signals.

Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Alzil-M 5 Tablet may be taken with or without food, but it is better to take it at a fixed time.

If you miss a dose of Alzil-M 5 Tablet, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.
