Bempesta Tablet

Bempedoic acid (180mg)

by Torrent Pharmaceuticals Ltd

strip of 10 tablets

About this medicine

Bempesta Tablet is used to lower cholesterol and reduce the risk of heart disease. Cholesterol is a fatty substance that builds up in your blood vessels and causes narrowing, possibly leading to a heart attack or stroke. Bempesta Tablet is used in combination with other medicines that lower cholesterol levels, such as statins. It may be taken with a meal or on an empty stomach. You can take it at any time of the day, but try to take it at the same time each day. Most people with high cholesterol do not feel ill, but if you stop taking this medicine, your condition could worsen. This may lead to your cholesterol levels rising again and increasing your risk of heart disease and stroke. It is important to have cholesterol levels checked regularly. Bempesta Tablet is only one part of the treatment program, which should also include a healthy diet, regular exercise, smoking cessation, moderation of alcohol intake, and weight reduction. Eat normally while taking this medicine, but try to avoid foods high in fat. The most common side effects of this medicine include respiratory tract infections, muscle spasms, back pain, pain in the shoulder, legs, or arms, stomach pain, anemia, and increased liver enzymes. Before taking it, let the doctor know if you are suffering from liver or kidney disease. Pregnant and breastfeeding women should consult the doctor before taking this medicine.

Benefits

In high cholesterol

Bempesta Tablet effectively reduces the high cholesterol levels in your body. Lowering the amount of cholesterol reduces the chances of heart disease and helps you remain healthier for longer. Take this medication regularly and make appropriate lifestyle changes (such as eating healthy and staying active) to maximize its effectiveness. Keep taking it even if you feel well or until your doctor advises otherwise.

How it works

Bempesta Tablet works by blocking an enzyme (enzyme adenosine triphosphate-citrate lyase) that is required to make “bad” cholesterol (low-density lipoprotein) in the liver, which results in lower levels of '__'bad'__' cholesterol.

What is LDL or bad cholesterol?

LDL or low-density lipoprotein is called bad cholesterol because it causes a buildup of cholesterol in the blood. This leads to blockage in the heart and is a direct cause of heart attacks, strokes, and peripheral artery disease.

What is HDL or good cholesterol?

HDL or high-density lipoprotein is also called good cholesterol because it carries cholesterol from your blood to your liver to be removed. This reduces the risk of heart disease.

How can I check my cholesterol level?

You can book a lipid profile test with any accredited laboratory. This test helps you monitor your total cholesterol, LDL levels, HDL levels, triglycerides, and the ratio between cholesterol and HDL. You may need to fast for a period of 10-12 hours before giving your blood sample for this test. After receiving your test report, consult a doctor to help you evaluate the test results.

What is the normal cholesterol level in a blood test?

Your total cholesterol level should be 125 to 200 mg/dL, LDL should be less than 100 mg/dL, and HDL should be 40 mg/dL or higher.

What will happen if I have high cholesterol?

If you have a high cholesterol level, it builds up on the walls of your arteries. This condition causes arteries to become narrow, and the narrowed blood vessels reduce blood flow to the heart. This can lead to a heart attack or stroke.

What lifestyle changes can help improve the effectiveness of this medicine?

Along with taking Bempesta Tablet, taking a low-fat diet, exercising regularly, reducing body weight, and limiting alcohol consumption can help improve the effectiveness of this medicine and lower cholesterol levels.
