Laretol Capsule is the active form of vitamin D. It increases the levels of vitamin D in your blood which in turn raises calcium levels in the blood by helping in the absorption of more calcium from your intestine. This way it helps in the treatment of calcium deficiency and metabolic bone disease. Laretol Capsule is also beneficial in increasing muscle mass, helps in the prevention and treatment of hypocalcemia, as well as helps in reducing fatigue and muscular pains. It boosts immunity and increases body resistance against infection. This medicine is to be taken in the dosage as advised by the doctor. Consult your doctor if you plan to take any other form of vitamin D along with this medicine. This medicine is generally tolerated with little or no side effects. In patients with kidney disease patients, dose adjustment may be required. Discussed with your doctor. Avoid or limit the consumption of alcohol while on treatment with this medicine.

Laretol Capsule is used to treat and prevent low levels of calcium and bone disease in patients whose kidneys or parathyroid glands (glands in the neck that release natural substances to control the amount of calcium in the blood) are not working normally. Calcitriol (a vitamin D analogs) works by helping the body to use more of the calcium found in foods or supplements and regulating the body's production of parathyroid hormone.

Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Laretol Capsule may be taken with or without food, but it is better to take it at a fixed time.

Laretol Capsule is safe to use during breastfeeding. Human studies suggest that the drug does not pass into the breastmilk in a significant amount and is not harmful to the baby. While on treatment with Laretol Capsule, serum calcium levels of the mother and infant should be monitored.

Laretol Capsule does not usually affect your ability to drive.

KidneyCAUTION

Laretol Capsule should be used with caution in patients with severe kidney disease. Dose adjustment of Laretol Capsule may be needed. Please consult your doctor. However, regular monitoring of phosphate levels may be advised while you are taking this medicine.

LiverSAFE IF PRESCRIBED

Laretol Capsule is safe to use in patients with liver disease. No dose adjustment of Laretol Capsule is recommended.
